JOB SUMMARY: Provides clinical and administrative support under the direction of physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing supervisors.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS: Responsible to the Rural Health Clinic Director Positions Directly Supervised: None Regular Contact with all Rural Health Clinic personnel, Physicians, and the public.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Greets patients in a polite, prompt, helpful, and professional manner and provides any necessary instructions/directions
Assists with clerical activities related to patient registration, appointment scheduling, patient intake, data verification, office communications, and filing/scanning of patient records
Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit
Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary
Assists healthcare providers with exams, procedures, and patient care as directed
Performs routine clinical tasks such as applying bandages, dressings, and splints; and obtaining specimens, as ordered by the healthcare provider
Obtains specimens using proper technique and following policy and procedure for labeling
Responds to patient inquiries and provide assistance by phone within scope of practice
Assist with patient outreach for lab results, chronic disease follow-up, and preventative-care reminders
Assists in maintaining a clean, organized, and sanitary front desk and waiting area to ensure a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients and staff
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
Prepares and sanitize patient rooms to uphold hygiene standards and prevent infection
Assists in inventory management to support efficient patient care and clinic workflow
Performs routine preventative maintenance on clinic equipment to support patient care
Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc. to the supervisor immediately
Serves and protects the facility by adhering to professional standards, facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
Accurately document patient information and clinical activities in the Electronic Health Record system
Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or experience as a Medical/Clinical Assistant is required. A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) is preferred. Current BLS certification or completion within 90 days of employment.
Work Experience: One (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant/Clinical Assistant is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to move about the office and facility to perform job functions and provide services as well as access various departments and patient care areas
May remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time at a desk
Perform manual dexterity tasks such as taking vital signs, applying dressings, utilizing medical equipment, etc.
Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, etc.
Constantly position self, such as bending, stooping, etc. to maintain and access office and medical equipment and provide patient care.
Ability to work in a fast-paced stressful environment
Operates a computer, office, and patient care machinery
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, visitors, coworkers, etc. via phone, in person, including the ability to clearly discern and respond to verbal inquiries, and exchange accurate information through conversation
Visual acuity sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and handwritten materials
Frequently move boxes, equipment, etc. weighing up to 20 pounds across the office for various needs.
Frequently assist with pushing, pulling, lifting, transferring, or repositioning patients, up to 50 lbs
