POSITION TITLE: IMAGING/SUPPORT SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this job is to handle two operations of the scanning of paper medical records and miscellaneous documents into a computerized database, maintaining the database and procedures.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Responsible to the Director of Health Information Management
Positions Directly Supervised: None
Regular Contact with Emergency Room, Lab, Radiology, Respiratory, Medical Records, Coding, and Rural Health Clinic staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of major essential functions of this job. Other duties may be performed that are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
Imaging Duties
1. Organize the work flow of documents to be scanned from the specific departments.
2. Prepare documents; created document folders in database; input index data and scan documents.
3. Maintains auditing processes for all records scanned and determines shred dates.
4. Generates reports and verification process to determine that all records for the time periods have been received to be scanned.
5. Maintains index fields; folders; administration duties on database system.
6. Generating and managing assigned documentation reports.
7. All other duties as assigned within the Health Information Management department which includes assisting HIM employees with departmental functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Must possess, as a minimum, high school diploma.
Work Experience:
Must have some type of office training or experience. Must have knowledge of medical records process and procedures. Must have computer experience.

OSHA EXPOSURE CATEGORY A:
Has exposure to blood borne pathogens.

- Ability to read and write effectively
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively when completing several tasks at once
- Strong organizational skills
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and company information
- Strong customer service skills
- Familiar with medical terminology
- Proficient with computers and ability to learn computer software
Physical Requirements:
- Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Occasionally move about the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Position self to maintain files in file cabinets
- Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as computer printers, scanner, etc.
- Ability to observe details at close range
- Ability to move boxes, equipment, etc. up to 10 pounds across the office for various needs
